Horizon Private School – American Branch is officially licensed and regulated by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), the government body responsible for the quality and performance of private schools in Abu Dhabi. This license confirms the school meets required curriculum, staffing, safety, and quality standards under UAE law.
In the January 2025 ADEK Irtiqa’a inspection, Horizon was rated Good – reflecting solid provision across teaching, learning outcomes, leadership, and student wellbeing. The school is actively working toward its next inspection with a clear focus on achieving Very Good and beyond.
Horizon delivers an internationally recognized American curriculum, aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English and Mathematics and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Science. This alignment ensures consistency with global best practice in K-12 education and prepares students for academic and career pathways worldwide. UAE Ministry of Education frameworks for Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies are fully integrated across all grade levels.
Horizon Private School – American Branch offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses through the College Board – a globally respected standard for advanced academic performance and university readiness. Our AP program gives students the opportunity to engage in rigorous, university-level study while still in secondary school, earning distinctions that are recognized by leading universities around the world. In AY 2024-25, 28 Horizon students earned AP Scholar distinctions.
Horizon Private School – American Branch is Cognia Accredited. Accreditation was awarded by the Cognia Global Commission on March 31, 2022, through NCA CASI, NWAC, and SACS CASI – a standard recognized throughout the world.
